Scope

1.1 This Standard provides performance requirements and test methods for evaluating the visibility, legibility, and power consumption of internally lighted exit signs.

Visibility requirements have been developed based on assumed normal visual acuity and normal colourin clear air at a maximum viewing distance of 30.5 m (100 ft).

1.2 This Standard does not apply to flashing exit signs.

1.3 The values given in SI (metric) units are the standard.

When values are given in parentheses, they are the accepted yard-p ound equivalents.
